Ethan Tiglik was all smiles during Saturday’s Santa Claus Parade in Iqaluit.
The 11-year-old said he felt really special having the opportunity to sit in the front seat of an Iqaluit fire vehicle, which was at the front of the slow-rolling Christmas convoy as it proceeded along the parade route.
Saturday’s Santa Claus Parade drew hundreds of people to various points of the route.
Starting at the Arctic Winter Games Arena, it took about an hour for the parade of around a dozen vehicles to make its way to the parking lot of Nakasuk Elementary School.
Among the floats were Iqaluit fire trucks, representatives from businesses including Canadian North and the Frobisher Inn, municipal enforcement, and of course, Kris Kringle himself.
Even as the snow came down, families were full of joy as the parade marchers handed out chocolates and candy canes.
After the parade ended, the celebrations continued at the Elders Qammaq with food and hot chocolate.
