Quebec police say they’ve arrested a suspect behind an alleged homicide in the Nunavik community of Inukjuak.
A 29-year-old Inukjuak man was first reported missing May 7.
Kativik Regional Police Force officers later found the lifeless man in a local home. His body was marked with “signs of violence,” the KRPF said in a May 10 release, though police have not said how the man died.
With the help of Sûreté du Québec investigators, police arrested a suspect May 8 in connection with the death.
The suspect is expected to make a first court appearance from Inukjuak May 11 by teleconference, police said.
In the same release, police thanked community members for providing the information that led to the suspect’s arrest.
The SQ said it has now deployed a team of investigators to the Hudson coast community to assist with the investigation.
