RCMP say a weapon was used in the robbery of a store in Kimmirut last Thursday and are seeking the public’s help in their investigation.
Around noon on Jan. 26, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Northern store in the hamlet, according to a news release Monday.
Police didn’t disclose what type of weapon was used, or whether money or property was stolen in the incident. No other information about the incident was included in the release.
RCMP ask anyone with information to contact investigators at 867-939-1111.
Brent Smith, a communications manager with North West Company, confirmed to Nunatsiaq News in an email last week that an incident occurred Thursday at the Kimmirut Northern store.
Smith did not specify if it was a robbery, whether anyone was injured or if any property was stolen.
Kimmirut, with a population of approximately 400, is located about 120 kilometres southwest of Iqaluit.
