Pond man charged
IQALUIT — A lone gunman went on a shooting spree in Pond Inlet last Friday.
Rueben Sangoya, 19, of Pond Inlet has been charged with two counts of attempted murder.
Police arrived around 7:15 a.m. on July 20 to find a young man was shooting a rifle. Sangoya shot four buildings, a police vehicle, an ATV and a dog. The dog died, but no people were injured.
The Pond Inlet RCMP had called in police from Iqaluit for back-up, but the gunman surrendered before they arrived.
Sangoya has been remanded into custody in Iqaluit and will appear in the Nunavut Court of Justice on July 31.
