Population boom predicted if Nunavummiut don’t use condoms
Nunavut’s Next 25: Readers reflect on what’s in store for territory’s next 25 years
To mark the 25th anniversary of the creation of Nunavut, Nunatsiaq News asked readers to describe what’s in store for the next 25 years.
Nunavut will look very different in 25 years.
Firstly, there will be more people if no one wears condoms.
I guess maybe around 42,000 people will live in Nunavut by 2049.
With all those new people, there should be new houses.
The new houses should be nicer houses with wooden floors, better lights and better walls.
It would help if housing employees were more present to check on and fix houses too.
Elders will be able to stay in the North if other places follow Kuujjuaq by building elder homes like Ittuqautik.
In 25 years, let’s just hope Nunavut will be better.

Who would have thought? Buahaha.
I don’t know weather to be offended or not but to post this on media……… hysterical Lol.
To the guys out in Nunavut use North Mart Bags, make a use of them plastic bags and return it to north mart for 5 cents lol
“Condoms are expensive thats why cheaper to use bags, plus refund on bag” lol
“It would help if housing employees were more present to check on and fix houses too.”
It would also help if people took care accountably and took care of homes handed to them
Exactly my first thought too, always expecting someone else to do everything, to hold our hand and take care of us, personal accountability and owning our shit be damned. This mentality does not bode well for Nunavut in 25 years.
42,000 extra people living in the same housing unit as today, with all the current tenants, double bag it, just to make sure,
kids without jobs, having kids and teaching them to not work. just what nunavut deserves if it can’t be responsible and make hard choices.
There are a lit of STD’s out there. Worst one is hella expensive. Costs about $25K annually for approx 18 years. Its called Preggers.
Condoms should be used to curb infections.
As for our ‘population boom’, well, we do need to keep our culture alive. It wouldn’t be a problem if the governments could keep up.
Interesting comment, it shows the reality of Inuit culture today, marked by dependence and entitlement, lacking self sufficiency it has completely replaced whatever you imagine ‘Inuit culture’ to mean, a projection from a much different past no doubt.
