Mail delays caused by the ongoing Canada Post strike could affect the delivery of Qulliq Energy Corporation electricity bills.
The corporation responsible for providing Nunavut’s electricity made the announcement in a news release Monday and offered a variety of billing options to prevent late payments.
Customers can sign up for Qulliq’s e-billing service by calling 1-866-710-4200 or by email at customercare@qec.nu.ca.
Online payment is also available through online banking services by identifying “Qulliq Energy Corporation” as the payee.
When entering a billing account number, ensure all zeros are included but leave out the decimal point, the release said.
Mail has been disrupted across Canada after the Canadian Union of Postal Workers went on strike Nov. 15.
Canada Post staff in remote locations such as Nunavut and Nunavik are not part of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers union.
Instead, they bargain under the umbrella of the Canadian Postmasters and Assistants Association, which is involved in a separate round of negotiations with Canada Post.
Nonetheless, mail delivery is expected to be slower in both regions due to work stoppages in the south.
Mail is antiquated and unnecessary in many cases (like this one).
It is also over subsidized and underpriced, which fuels the proliferation of useless junk mail, which should be illegal.
Canada Post needs to re-imagined, and stripped down, just like the CBC.
Hahahaha there already 2 months behind as it is
That is exactly my first thought. Hey thanks for telling us that things may be interrupted….but just a minute I just received my September invoice yesterday in the mail…so seems to me you are already 50 days behind before the mail strike…….
Just get NTI to paying the power bills, they’re already paying for votes.

I heard Motor Vehicle will have an option to renew drivers licenses online in year 2075. Marked your calendars.

We will all get the late charge this month.
Bundle all envelopes to each community and send them counter to counter with airline Qulliq have employees in all communities.
Or, you can take the initiative and call QEC to ask how much you owe.
