Puvirnituq man faces 2nd-degree murder charge in woman’s death
Body of 79-year-old woman was discovered inside a residence

A Puvirnituq man has been charged with second-degree murder as Quebec provincial police continue to investigate the death of a woman whose body was discovered Monday.
Nunavik Police Service officers were called to a residence in Puvirnituq at around 10:30 p.m. Monday, where they found the body of a 79-year-old woman.
The woman is identified as Nellie Tullaugak-Wilson in a document released by Quebec’s Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions.
Investigators from the Sûreté du Québec’s crimes against the person division and a forensics specialist were called in to take over the investigation, spokesperson Sgt. Nancy Fournier said Thursday.
On Wednesday afternoon, provincial police officers arrested Matiusi Tullaugak, 47, and charged him with second-degree murder. Tullaugak was to appear in court Thursday afternoon.
