Planned outages needed as part of work related to new generator, Nunavut electricity provider says

Iqalummiut should expect power outages on Sunday night and Tuesday morning, Nunavut’s power generation company says.

Two community-wide outages are required for Qulliq Energy Corp. to do upgrades for the interconnection of a new generator, a company announcement issued Friday says.

On Sunday, a community-wide outage will take place from 9 to 10 p.m.

On Tuesday, an outage will occur from 5 to 6 a.m.

    This new generator is replacing an 31 year old genset. Improved power capabilities and cleaner fuel emissions. Iqaluit is in for a treat with this new bad boy. It’s exciting.
