Tours, speeches to be part of festivities set for Sept. 27

Qulliq Energy Corp. is planning a community feast on Sept. 27 to mark the grand opening of its new head office in Baker Lake.
The event starts at 2 p.m. with speeches and a ribbon cutting, then from 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. the public can tour the building led by QEC staff in English and Inuktitut, the utility announced in a news release Friday.
The community feast will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the new community hall featuring country food, cake and refreshments.
The building, at 3091 6th St. in Baker Lake, actually opened for business back in April. The Sept. 27 events are its official opening.
QEC is Nunavut’s electricity provider with approximately 15,000 customers.
