RCMP and the City of Iqaluit’s Municipal Enforcement conducted a commercial vehicle check-stop on Friday in the 500s block of Niaqunngusiariaq Rd.
More than 150 drivers provided breath samples, with two allegedly impaired drivers taken off the road, according to a news release issued by the Nunavut RCMP on Tuesday.
The two drivers each received a 30-day license suspension, RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Ashley Daley confirmed in an email.
Police warned drivers about safe driving practices and issued several tickets for traffic violations.
The RCMP said that officers will continue to work with municipal enforcement to deter impaired driving.
If you suspect an impaired driver, RCMP asks that you report it immediately at 867-979-1111.
