Iqaluit RCMP have charged a 59-year-old Iqaluit man with kidnapping, sexual assault and uttering threats, according to a July 6 news release.

On May 29, a woman told police that, while she was walking home in the early morning of May 24, she was forced into a vehicle and driven to an undisclosed location where she was sexually assaulted.

On June 30, police arrested Andre Joseph Bedard in relation to the incident. He was scheduled to make a court appearance Monday in Iqaluit.

Police are investigating to determine if there are other victims. The RCMP released a photo of Bedard to help in their investigation.

Update…they have not been accessible for the last couple of weeks, and that was still the case when that comment was posted. They seem to be accessible as of today though. Which is weird.
