A 52-year-old Iqaluit woman, now in police custody, faces one count of aggravated assault in connection with an incident that put a man into hospital.
On Wednesday, April 24, Iqaluit RCMP members found an adult man “in distress” in the 500 block area, who needed medical attention, when they responded to a disturbance on Wednesday, April 24, according to a new release issued today.
The man was taken by ambulance to the Qikiqtani General Hospital, where he remains in stable condition, the RCMP said.
The woman, who was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault and a single breach of undertaking, was not named in the news release.
The woman appeared before a Justice of the Peace on Thursday afternoon and was remanded into custody.
Her next scheduled court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, May 7 at the Nunavut Court of Justice in Iqaluit.
