RCMP confiscate 2 kilos of cocaine in Iqaluit

$400,000 worth of cocaine seized from Montreal man, police say

Iqaluit RCMP arrested a Montreal man in relation to a drug trafficking investigation and seized two kilograms of cocaine, worth approximately $400,000.

Brandon Gomez-Ouimet has been charged with trafficking a controlled substance and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, according to an RCMP press release.

He was arrested on a Canada-wide warrant on Sept. 1.

“Preventing illicit drugs from reaching Nunavut communities remains a priority, and the RCMP remain committed to identifying and disrupting those involved in drug trafficking,” Cpl. Ashley Daley wrote in the release.

Gomez-Ouimet remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 8, according to the release.
