RCMP investigate death of young woman near Kugluktuk
Police found body May 3 in a cabin outside the community
The RCMP are investigating a suspicious death of a young woman near Kugluktuk.
In a news release, police said members of the Kugluktuk detachment responded to a report of a deceased female at a cabin outside of the community on Monday.
The Office of the Chief Coroner is investigating the cause and manner of death, according to acting chief coroner Khen Sagadraca.
The RCMP’s major crime unit, along with the forensic identification unit, are investigating the incident.
The name of the woman and her age have not been released.
The RCMP are asking anyone with information to contact the Kugluktuk RCMP at 867-982-0123 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Thoughts and prayers are with the community of Kugluktuk and the families of those affected at these times. Seems like it was only last week a young girl passed away in a snowmobile accident. Stay strong Kugmiut.
For future reference, this is someone’s daughter and family member. It would be thoughtful to refer to her ‘remains’ as opposed to ‘body.’
