RCMP and Nunavut coroner’s office are investigating a sudden death in Iqaluit in late December, according to a police news release issued on Jan. 3.

On. Dec. 26, Iqaluit RCMP received a call about a 20-year-old “unresponsive female.” She was transported to Qikiqtani General Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.

RCMP didn’t provide any details on the person’s identity or any information about possible charges being laid relating to the incident, as the investigation is still ongoing.

Note: This story was corrected to note the woman was pronounced dead at the hospital.
