The fire occurred early in the morning on Jan. 9 in a storage building owned by Arctic Coast Enterprise and located across from the power plant, the RCMP said in a news release Thursday.

“The fire burned for about six hours,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. George Henrie told Nunatsiaq News in an emailed statement.

He declined to say whether the cause of the fire is considered accidental or suspicious because it is under investigation.

No injuries were reported to police.

Kugluktuk RCMP ask anyone who may have witnessed the fire or who has any information on it to contact investigators at 867-982-0123.
