The RCMP has launched an arson investigation following a series of fires in Rankin Inlet.

Rankin Inlet RCMP said in a news release that it and the community’s fire department had responded to “several” fires on Friday. Two cabins and a vehicle sustained “significant damage,” it said.

The RCMP is asking anyone with information about the incidents to contact the Rankin Inlet detachment at 867-645-1111.

The fires in Rankin Inlet happened a week after a similar incident took place in Arviat where a 23-year-old man was charged following a fire that did what police called “extensive” damage to a home.
