Kinngait residents are free to return to the 4000 block of the community, following what Nunavut RCMP described only as a “police operation” in that area Wednesday.
Late Wednesday morning, the RCMP posted on Facebook that officers were on the scene responding to an incident.
Few details were provided regarding the circumstances, other than that the incident occurred near the Kinngait health centre.
In an update posted on Facebook around 4 p.m., the RCMP said it had lifted an “alert advisory” and that officers would remain at the scene to continue their investigation.
“The RCMP would like to thank the residents of Kinngait for their patience and co-operation,” the update said.
