RCMP have released a sketch and description of a suspect in an armed robbery that occurred more than a month ago at the Northern store in Kimmirut.

The robbery occurred Jan. 26 around noon, according to police.

Kimmirut, with a population of approximately 400, is located on Baffin Island about 120 kilometres southwest from Iqaluit.

RCMP provided an update on their investigation Tuesday morning, describing the suspect as an Inuk male in his late 20s to early 30s with brown eyes, dark brown hair and clean shaven.

He was also described as wearing a blue cloth mask with black piping, a black cap or toque, and an old, faded green pullover parka with lighter-colour fur, pocket on the chest, and pointed hood.

Police have not disclosed what type of weapon was used, or whether any money or property was stolen in the incident.

The RCMP ask anyone with information to contact investigators at 867-939-1111.

Please help this person get help by disclosing him (he could also reoffend). We need Nunavut to have healthy people. Someone from the 400 people in Kimmirut (and elsewhere too) knows that parka or the other descriptions.

Also, you can call or type your tip to Crime Stoppers.
“To ensure your information and identity remains anonymous we invite you to follow the steps below.

Northern/Northmart have been up here as long as our settlements. Do they not have any cameras? They’re profiting off aboriginals our whole aboriginal lives and yet no cameras. Lol.

Still no update from the GN Health about why all the staff quit the Kimmirut health center at the same time?

    Someone must know something
