RCMP officers have recovered human remains in Kugluktuk and the police force is working on identifying the person.

Police got a report about the remains at Four Mile Bay, about 10 miles away from Kugluktuk, on July 15 approximately 3:20 p.m, a news release issued Thursday said.

Officers were able to recover the remains and transport them back to Kugluktuk.

RCMP didn’t specify the sex or approximate age of the person and whether the case is investigated as a missing person or as a criminal matter.

RCMP’s spokesperson Sgt. George Henrie  declined to comment further as the investigation is ongoing.
