RCMP arrested a man in Iqaluit Monday night after responding to a report of possible gunfire.

Officers were called to the 300s area of the city at about 9:25 p.m. Police issued a warning on Facebook advising neighbours to remain inside their homes, and set up a perimeter around a building there, according to RCMP in a news release.

A suspect was arrested shortly after that.

RCMP say Ahmed Ghouili is charged with two counts of pointing a firearm, one count of careless use of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, possession of property obtained by crime, and four counts of failure to comply with a release order.

The investigation is continuing, police say.

Which is great, but makes you wonder why names arent always posted. I understand if there is a minor involved, but that isnt always the case.
