Sanikiluaq man faces murder charge in wife’s death

A Sanikiluaq man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife.
Danny Paul Eyaituk, 38, was charged April 19 following an investigation by Nunavut RCMP’s major crime unit and members of the Sanikiluaq detachment, according to a Nunavut RCMP news release issued Monday.
Police say his wife, Annie Tracy Oqaituq, 36, was found dead in their home. No further details were released by police.
“The RCMP would like to thank the residents of Sanikiluaq for their assistance throughout the investigation,” the news release said.
Eyaituk is scheduled to appear in court in Iqaluit on Tuesday, police said. As of late Monday afternoon, his name was not listed on the Nunavut court docket.
We really need to hear from our largely male leadership how they propose to tackle the overwhelming amount of abuse and violence visited upon Nunavut’s women and children.
It’s truly stomach churning.
We will miss Annie, she was friendly.
If I recall correctly Sanikiluaq was a place Ed Horne worked for years. And there was a teacher named Johnny Mekko added to the abuse and trauma of community members.
The entire community as a whole needs to start their healing Journey from historical abuses and trauma to stop this vicious cycle of inter-generational trauma and abuse created by Ed Horne and Johnny Mekko.
The community needs some help and guidance for the entire community to begin their healing journey. It is like they are lost without a map to end up in a healthier and better place.
May residents of Sanikiluaq get the help they need to over come this tragedy and start their healing journey.
