Sanirajak driver found stuck in pond, charged with impaired driving
No injuries reported in incident

Sanirajak RCMP have charged a 41-year-old woman with impaired driving after finding the woman and her vehicle stuck in a pond.
Police responded to a call at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday morning about a vehicle stuck in a pond just past the hamlet’s Distant Early Warning line station, said Sgt. George Henrie, in a news release.
“When RCMP members arrived, they found a lone adult female occupant in the vehicle,” the release said.
“The female was arrested and taken into police custody,” he said.
No injuries were reported.
The woman has since been released from custody.
Her first court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 6 in Sanirajak.
Why is this a story or a media release? There has to be 2 or 3 DUI charges laid across Nunavut weekly and this one makes the news? National security incident because it was close to a DEW line site?
