By Kierstin Williams

The search for Julia Nauyuq continues nearly two months after the 47-year-old Inuk woman was last seen in an Ottawa neighbourhood.

Ottawa Police Service confirmed in an email to Nunatsiaq News on Tuesday that their investigation into Nauyuq’s whereabouts is ongoing.

She was last seen in the area of Pinecrest Road and Carling Avenue in Ottawa on June 8, according to a news release police issued on June 20.

Her family is concerned for her well-being, the release said.

Nauyuq is described as an Inuk woman, four-foot-nine with a thin build, black hair and brown eyes. There is no information available on what she was wearing at the time she was last seen, police say.

Police are asking anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact investigators at 613-236-1222, ext. 7502.

“There is no information available on what she was wearing at the time she was last seen, police say.” Doesn’t that statement contradict itself?.. There was a lot of mis-information going around on Facebook. People were commenting she had spoken to her family, and she was “safe” when she in fact was never seen or spoken to… I hope she is safe, & returns home to her loved ones.
