Photo: She’s got the world by the throat

Cambridge Bay’s extreme throat-singer, Tanya Tagaq, who now lives in Yellowknife, autographs CDs after a performance at a July 12 concert for participants at this week’s International Congress for Circumpolar Health in Yellowknife. The cultural event also featured a fur fashion show and other acts, including the Aklavik drummers and Yukon comedian “Grandma Susie.” Tagaq, who wowed the audience with a 10-minute throat-singing marathon, performs July 15 at the Riddu Riddu indigenous music festival in northern Norway.
