For the final stop of her five-day Nunavik tour, Gov. Gen. Mary Simon flew into Inukjuak early Thursday.

Simon was supposed to arrive in the community Wednesday evening after a day in Kangiqsujuaq and spend the night, but poor weather kept her Air Inuit charter plane grounded in Kuujjuaq.

Throughout the day Thursday, she met with local officials and students, attended a community lunch and visited some of the hamlet’s social services and cultural institutions.

Simon, her husband, Whit Fraser, and the rest of her entourage were expected to fly back to Ottawa on Friday afternoon.
