Snack driver beaten, robbed

An Iqaluit delivery driver was mugged this week while making a delivery.

The driver, an employee of the Snack restaurant, was called to a house in the early morning hours Wednesday where he was beaten on the head and face and robbed of between $1,500 and $1,700.

The driver was hospitalized, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Iqaluit RCMP officers responded to the location where the mugging took place but found nobody there. As of Nunatsiaq News press deadline Wednesday the muggers were still at large.

Iqaluit RCMP Sgt. Mike O’Malley said that as part of the investigation police are not disclosing the location where the event occurred, the number of criminals involved, or the type of weapon used.

O’Malley said police do have suspects in the case.
