Social housing inspections wind down
For the past two months, the Kativik Municipal Housing Bureau has been in all Nunavik communities, checking every social housing unit from top to bottom.
During these inspections, Pierre Roy from the KMHB was assisted by 13 building engineering and architectural students and staff from Quebec’s technological institute, l’École de technologie superieur.
The last Nunavik community to be visited was Kuujjuaq, where inspection ended this week.
Now, the inspection team and the KMHB, will prepare and submit a report, containing an analysis on the general condition of the region’s social housing units.
This, says the KMHB will be used to apply for federal and provincial funding for repair and renovation projects throughout Nunavik.
