Spring forward early this year

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

Thanks to a Nunavut cabinet decree issued last week, Nunavummiut will enter daylight savings time three weeks early this year, on Sunday, March 11, when they will move their clocks ahead by one hour.

This brings Nunavut into alignment with the rest of North America, where most jurisdictions agreed about two years ago to adopt an extended daylight savings time period as an energy saving measure.

From now on, daylight savings time will start the second Sunday in March. On Nov. 4, Nunavummiut will move clocks back by an hour, one week later than last year.
