Suspect charged in stabbing outside Iqaluit store
Police say a 2nd suspect has been identified, investigation continues
A 30-year-old man faces an aggravated assault charge in connection with a stabbing outside an Iqaluit store last week.
Tips from the public helped police identify suspects in the case, Iqaluit RCMP said in a news release Friday.
The stabbing occurred outside the Arctic Ventures store on Queen Elizabeth Way on the night of Jan. 15. The victim, a 33-year-old man, was stabbed multiple times and suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been released from medical care, the release said.
RCMP issued a public appeal seeking help to identify two suspects, describing the assault as a “senseless, unprovoked attack.”
On Tuesday, the 30-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He was held in custody and was scheduled to appear in court Friday afternoon.
In the release, police said a second suspect has been identified and the police investigation is continuing.
