Sustainable initiatives coordinator

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

The city is creating a new position for someone with the leadership skills and knowledge to launch council’s greenhouse gas reduction ambitions.

The department of planning and lands hopes the six-month, $45,000 contract will help the city secure lasting partnerships with future financial and liaison supporters.

The position is related to the city’s commitment to the Partners in Climate Change program aimed at reducing greenhouse gases, and will be funding by money from the Aboriginal and Northern Climate Change Program.

The city will also use another $5,000 it received from AANCCP to create a sustainable initiatives committee to help manage the coordinator’s efforts in moving PCP initiatives forward.
