The health centre in Taloyoak has been closed due to flooding, the Department of Health announced Monday afternoon.

Until further notice, the centre is only offering limited services such as emergency appointments, as well as prenatal, postnatal and infant care. Residents needing these services are asked to call 867-561-5111 ahead of their visits and to go to the side door by the garage upon their arrival.

Eye appointments are still taking place at the old health centre, and COVID-19 testing is still available by appointment, if needed.

Dental services and COVID-19 vaccine appointments have been postponed.

The Department of Health says it is working with the Department of Community and Government Service to assess flooding damage and resume services “as quickly as possible.”

How did it flood? Was it the sewage or water tank? Questions from reading an article that lacks these important details.
