Teen dies after fall through sea ice near Pangnirtung
Police say victim was 15 years old

A 15-year-old died last Thursday after he and two other teens fell through the ice near the floe edge about 12 kilometres from Pangnirtung, Nunavut RCMP announced Tuesday.
The incident occurred at about 6:20 p.m., the RCMP news release said. Two others managed to escape the water.
Pangnirtung ground search and rescue members were called in to work with the police, and the body of the third youth was found in the water a few hours later.
RCMP continues to work with the Nunavut coroner’s office in the investigation.
“The RCMP would like to thank those who have assisted with the operation,” RCMP Sgt. George Henrie said in the release. “Our hearts and prayers are with the family and the community.”
