Thief causes $1,000 damage to Rankin Inlet fire hall, police say
Kivalliq community sees string of break and enters and attempts this week

A string of break and enters in Rankin Inlet this month, including a 4 p.m. break-in at the fire hall on Monday, has RCMP in the Kivalliq community investigating,
The alleged thief caused approximately $1,000 in damage and stole keys to the fire department pickup trucks, RCMP spokesperson Sgt. George Henrie said in an email to Nunatsiaq News on Thursday.
“This matter is still under investigation and the Rankin Inlet RCMP are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information that could assist police to contact them,” Henrie said.
The Rankin Inlet RCMP has received reports of other break and enters and attempted break and enters in the past week, he added.
