Police were notified Dec. 27 that country food including pitsi, or dried fish, muskox, fish and seal meat valued at more than $3,100, was stolen from the Iqaluit hunters and trappers association’s storage unit, a news release issued Tuesday said.
Investigators later learned the suspects attempted to sell the stolen food outside Arctic Ventures that same day. Witnesses reported seeing the alleged thieves using a child’s sled with the items concealed under a blanket, the release said.
RCMP said closed-circuit TV footage shows three people breaking into the association’s storage unit where the food was taken.
Police ask anyone who recognizes the suspects or who may have purchased food from them to contact Cpl. Rodney Macintyre at 867-975-0123 or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

This incident occurred on Friday, December 27, 2024.
And, the RCMP only created their news release on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
When was this theft was actually reported to police?
Why why why are these images only being released almost a month later?
Call the RCMP detachment, they won’t respond here
RCMP detachment here also weren’t answering call and was closed to the public for a day last week.
Because the Cops probably want us to think they tried to figure it out on their own first… but were not successful.
If you read the news release on the RCMP webpage or on Facebook, you’ll see they just got the video footage. It’s something NN left out.
Then the questions becomes, why did they only get the video footage so late?
Country food is something that Inuit share not sell. Iqaluit is colonial land and they are the start of the colonial era.
