Thieves nabbed after multiple break-ins
Five teens and an adult from Iqaluit will appear in court next month on charges related to a rash of break-ins in the community.
The group faces 20 charges, stemming from nine different break-ins in October and November in Iqaluit.
Matthew Naulaq is scheduled to appear in court on charges of break-and-enter on Jan. 10. The youths, ages 14 to 18, cannot be named, but will appear in court on the same day.
Police announced the arrests on Monday, and warned the public to be careful when buying electronic equipment or local arts and crafts because they might be stolen property from the break-ins.
In the span of several weeks, thieves hit at least a dozen businesses and government offices in Iqaluit, as well as several homes.
Police are investigating other recent break-ins. Anyone with information can phone 975-4452, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
