Time zone debate not a waste of energy

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

The time zone debate wasn’t a waste of energy. It was an energiser for people who are opposed to it. In our culture, from birth we started learning how to conserve our catch for our future use (for example, aged walrus, maaktaq, aged arctic char and aged caribou meat.) Sure it’s a waste of energy but it keeps us alive.

In fact you probably heard stories about starvations but at least one or two or even all the people used to survive because we knew how to conserve our energy. Also an energizer! Your editorial was a deliberate attempt to turn us down with our culture but in fact, thanks for energizing us. We will be more unified than ever!

I am still in favour of finding one time zone in Nunavut but I disagree with the two-hours change. Reason number one, I have adapted it to time, like finding my way home with the sun, moon and stars and co-ordinating it with time or clock.

Also, Frank May, isn’t this too early to thank your MLA.
