Toddler dies in Hall Beach house fire
An 18-month-old girl has died following a serious house fire in Hall Beach last Sunday.
Emergency officials are investigating the incident.
Claren Aula died as a result of her injuries from the fire, said Const. Jonathan Saxby.
“The incident is currently under investigation by the Hall Beach RCMP, the Major Crimes Unit and the Office of the Fire Marshal,” Saxby said.
Officials from the fire marshal’s office were gathering information at the site for most of the week, but would not release the cause of the fire.
Mark Hall, the community’s senior administrative officer, said there were others in the house when the fire began, but that the girl was the only person seriously injured.
The girl’s body has been transported to the south for an autopsy. The official cause of death is not known.
The RCMP would not say whether criminal charges would be laid.
