Triplets in Kugluktuk

A young Kugluktuk couple, Joanne Kokak and Lennie Hikomak, became the parents of three girls last Saturday. The three babies, Gracie, Faith and Sophie, are still in Edmonton where they were born.

The triplets are the first to be born in Nunavut. Ten years ago, a set of triplets was born in Sanikiluaq, then part of the Northwest Territories.

Kugluktuk’s MLA Joe Allen Evyagotailak congratulated their grandparents, Agnus Quqaaq and Benedict Qummaq, and their families in the legislature this week.

“The best wishes for you both and your three new little girls,” Evyagotailak said.
