Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami president Natan Obed and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met in Ottawa Tuesday to discuss the federal government’s continued partnership with Canada’s Inuit.
Speaking with reporters beforehand, Obed highlighted his most recent meeting with Trudeau held at the time of the signing of the devolution agreement between the federal and territorial governments and Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. in Iqaluit on Jan. 18.
Obed called it “one of many different historic advances we have made with this government over the last eight plus years.”
Of his meeting with Trudeau, Obed said “there are still lots of conversations to be had.”
He said that includes continuing to work together on the Inuit Nunangat Policy partnership, which outlines how renewal can take place for federal policies and programs that apply in Inuit Nunangat.
No further details on the meeting between Trudeau and Obed, including specific areas they planned to address, were released by the Prime Minister’s Office on Tuesday.

Vote blue
I AGREE , TIME TO VOTE THESE GUYS OUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My short term memory is still good, I will never vote blue (cons) again, those guys like to cut funding, pretend to give our old funding that’s made to look new, plus the new guy for the blue team seems like a weasel, can’t trust him at all.
So again ABC for a lot of us.
Natan has been fortunate to enjoy such a receptive audience in Trudeau. No doubt he has played his benefactor like a fiddle. All things come to an end however and like everyone (the PM excepted) he surely sees the decade of easy money and sunny ways is about to sink beneath the horizon. We can’t blame him for bringing the milk bucket around for another little squeeze…
Bro you are totally misreading the GlObAlIsT aGeNdA!!!!!
The 2 idiots running what they can’t run. Just ruins things.
Both are a waste of time.
Run for office than for both PM and ITK President show people how to get it done!
Devolution…. Remember the Community Empowerment Experiment. Didn’t work out so well for the communities.
More money going to who’s account? I mean where?
Both are a waste of time and space.
Globalist at it again
I’m not crazy with everything he’s done, but I don’t think Globalist is a correct descriptor for Natan. At least not in all things. His project is to carve out a “distinctions-based” space within Canada and the Globe. Maybe you could argue that he wants a distinct, sovereign Inuit homeland with a Globalist Canada and international community, and that’s probably at least partly correct (UNDRIP?). But it contains a glaring contradiction (sovereignty for me, Globalism for thee).
Inuit exist outside of Nunavut, imagine!
Natan has helped bring light to issues in Labrador e.g.
He’s calling out pretendian Qalipus and Todd Russell’s fake Inuit.
Armchair trolls always have the answers, but never step up to really help.
Yep, he has been busy ‘calling out’, but when this American is himself ‘called out’, watch the fireworks.
Get him to change the name of the Edmonton Edkimos there Natan. Oh wait.
Fight for something worth it. Food security. Monopoly airlines. Horrible nutrition north.
What are you going to do when Trudeau is voted out and Cons take over?
I still find it funny some of you are still going on about the Eskimo thing, he barely worked on that and did not put a whole lot of energy behind it, he succeeded in getting a lot of new funding for the north, hundreds of millions of new funding and yet all you know is the little thing about Edmonton Eskimos,
If the Cons get in there won’t be any new funding that’s for sure, more than likely a lot of funding cuts for us as that’s what the cons are good at, cut funding for the north, cut infrastructure funding, cut program funding while they cut taxes for their rich friends and big corporations.
Can you really trust the new guy with the Cons? Wolf in sheep’s clothing.
We don’t know if we can trust “the new guy,” but we do know we can’t trust the “old guy.” And that’s how electoral politics work…
I’ll stick to the old guy, the new guy sure doesn’t seem trustworthy, plus the Cons have never been trustworthy, I’ll take the lesser evil here.
You take whatever you want, but it looks like the Conservatives are headed for a strong majority government either way.
Too early to tell but it looks like another minority government for the Liberals, all the smoke and mirrors from the Cons don’t really work anymore, a lot of people actually look into the party platforms now instead of listening the the smoke and mirrors from the Cons, let’s wait and see.
That would be a scary thought of a Cons majority now wouldn’t it, I do hope people remember how it was the last time with a Cons majority, takes decades to get back to building infrastructure after those blue guys were in power.
“it looks like another minority government for the Liberals”
LOL… what polls have you been reading?
Most projections are for a Conservative majority.
Have a look: https://338canada.com/
Sorry. I must have missed something. “Hundreds of millions of new funding”?? For what and where did the alleged new funding go?
If you pay attention or even check the government, ITK sites you will see there has been hundreds of millions in new funding provided for Inuit Nunangat, for housing, infrastructure, programs.
For Nunavut a lot of it is funnelled through NTI , some of it through the GN.
Tons of new funding, but let’s not talk about that and bash the liberals. Now if the Cons get in power, do you think all these new funding will be in place? Or will it all be cut?
Thank you Natan for your hard work, you have helped bring hundreds of millions to Inuit Nunangat, this Liberal government has also provided so much more money for the north, much more than any other government has provided.
Hundreds of millions have been given to NTI since 2021, millions in new funding.
I’m just wondering what NTI has been doing with the hundreds of millions that was given to them for housing, programs and infrastructure. Where is all that funding NTI?
The difference is between the forest and a tree… Two scholars and people at the front telling us what is up in Geo-politics. Chris Hedges a journalist former NY Times bureau Chief in the Middle East, And Michael Hudson a professor and former economic advisor to the US president, both have an insider knowledge of where things stand and why we are here. Globalist interests with their agendas are flush with funds that is being used to control our public spaces, airwaves, etc.
Vote Green. Warring, endless wars marketed by an arms industry and Deep State and bought wholesale by the Liberal and Conservative Parties both, that is why we should say enough of that. Just think for a moment of how easily readily the war script is sold to us with little question on our part. We are making it too easy for the mongers.
a new word you learned for the day, can’t wait till your next slogan will it be axe the tax?
The schemers, buddies, what about Nunavut you guys? Can’t even scheme of a deep sea port for Rankin Inlet , rail to Baker Lake from Rankin? Private sector is creating lot of jobs in Kivalliq, how about a little assistance to Nunavut? funding the world?
Kivalliq is not Nunavut, a lot of you guys need to get off your high horse, just like to create divisions this region, even in their own region communities fighting with themselves, Rankin this Rankin that, what funny place. lol
Obed in Ottawa to play a hockey game against Metis… also, may do a little work or schmoozing
