Trump is wrong about Tylenol, Nunavut’s chief public health officer says
Acetaminophen appropriate and safe for use during pregnancy: Dr. Ekua Agyemang

U.S. President Donald Trump’s unproven claims this week linking acetaminophen, commonly sold under the brand name Tylenol, to autism spectrum disorder might be creating a headache for some Nunavut women.
Trump warned women in a news conference Monday to limit their use of acetaminophen during pregnancy because it can lead to autism in children, echoing the claim from his Health Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr.
Neither Trump nor Kennedy has any medical training.
On Tuesday, Nunavut’s Health Department issued a news advisory rejecting the advice, saying acetaminophen remains a safe and appropriate option for managing fever and pain during pregnancy.
She added the painkiller should always be limited to recommended doses and for the shortest duration necessary.
The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada has reviewed concerns that prenatal acetaminophen use could be linked to disorders such as autism spectrum disorder or attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, the release said, and found no new supporting evidence.
Acetaminophen is one of the only painkillers considered safe for use during pregnancy. Other common painkillers, including non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen, carry a risk of kidney problems in an unborn baby, according to Health Canada.
The few studies suggesting a link between Tylenol and autism “are fundamentally flawed and do not warrant changes to current clinical practice,” the news release said.
Dr. Ekua Agyemang, Nunavut’s chief public health officer, “encourages health-care providers to continue recommending acetaminophen when clinically appropriate,” the advisory said.
Health Canada issued a similar advisory on Tuesday, saying there is no conclusive evidence that using acetaminophen as directed during pregnancy causes autism or any other neurodevelopmental disorders.
“It has been used safely by millions of Canadians for decades, including during pregnancy and while breastfeeding,” the advisory said.
Kennedy promised earlier this year to find the cause of autism by September. He has previously spread debunked claims linking the condition with vaccines.

it is the all exclusive go to in Nunavik and Nunavut of course it must be wrong
Careful u might get barred from entry to the US now for criticizing Trump!
Don’t worry, we just gotta prove we took horse medicine and shot bleach up our ass! 😂
Not sure I would trust any Nunavut doctor, there not up here because there really good, lack of doctors world wide so we get the final picks so to say. You can debate me but I’m right sorry.
You’re going to ignore a person with years of education and work experience in the medical field because of your racist xenophobia and instead trust a well-known con-artist and convicted felon from another country. Some real big brain thinking right there…
How quickly people forget about Covid and all the opinions of the experts
Not sure why we should take biased opinion of someone who does not know the difference between ‘there’ and ‘their’ into consideration.
I don’t want to be too pedantic but just pointing out to the trolls who want to base their entire argument on the opposing view points use of grammar… How about not knowing the difference between their and they’re?
And I’m not defending that original comment because doctors in the north are every bit a good or bad as doctors in southern Canada.
Wow trump derangement syndrome has become a bonafide mental health disorder!
Trump didn’t make this up, it came from VERY credible research at Harvard, Johns Hopkins an Mount Sinai.
BAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Yeah, Trump has never lied or made things up before. He’s totally not in the Epstein Files and doesn’t have 34 felony convictions either. More big brain thinking here!
Post the links to that ‘research’. I’ll wait.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I have tried twice to post the links to the medical research papers from the respective universities that were quoted but NN moderator did not allow.
But Google is pretty easy to use if you give it a try.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
On ok got it and he said why can’t we just inject bleach to kill off covid virus
Of course he’s lying – Tylenol is what you take when you DON’T want the stronger stuff 🤣 But hey, your choice – Tylenol and chill, or tough it out (and maybe pray it doesn’t get worse?) 🤣🤣🤣
Trump? Really? The only people that buy into anything that the Orange Man says are uneducated people south of the Canadian border. No one else is dumb enough to believe that constant lies coming from his mouth.
Tylenol is indeed dangerous for your liver understand what it does to your body in the long term and its side affects study it for yourself
