Tumivut nominated for awards

Tumivut, a group that combines throat singing with contemporary styles of music, has been nominated in several categories for the 2009 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards.

Tumivut has been nominated for:

• Best Album Cover Design
• Best Group or Duo
• Best Music Video
• Best Producer or Engineer
• Best Rap or Hip Hop CD
• Single of the Year for “Movement”

Tumivut’s members include Cynthia Pitsiulak, Charlotte Qamaniq-Mason, Orick Terry and Daybi.

The first round of on-line voting for the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards started July 8 and continues until August 13. The final round of on-line voting will start August 20 and ends October
1.
