Two dead outside Naujaat, RCMP say
Investigation is ongoing

Police are investigating two deaths that took place near Naujaat on Thursday, the RCMP said in a social media post Friday afternoon.
“The Nunavut RCMP are investigating an incident in Naujaat where two persons were located deceased,” spokesperson Sgt. George Henrie said in an email Friday.
The major crime unit and the Nunavut Coroner’s office are investigating.
”As the matter is still under investigation, no further details will be shared at this time,” Henrie said.
There is no risk to public safety, according to Friday’s statement.
On Thursday, an RCMP social media post advised the public not to approach or enter “locations that remain under investigation.”
That same post had advised the public about “a reported incident in the area surrounding Naujaat.”
“Residents may notice an increased police presence in and around the community while the RCMP conducts an investigation,” the post stated.
