Two Inukjuak men headed to jail
Noah Oweetaluktuk, 21, was sentenced to seven years less 26 months in the death of an Inukjuak man in December, 2003. The man’s body was found beaten and bloody in a residence by individuals who were delivering frozen shrimp — which are furnished free-of-charge by Makivik Corp. to each Nunavik home before Christmas.
Nooma Oweetaluktuk, 32, also of Inukjuak, received 30 months for an assault and an aggravated assault, both involving a knife. One victim received eight separate stab wounds.
