What children don’t need to see

Joshua Atagooyuk received a two-year suspended sentence after pleading guilty to assault causing bodily harm.

On Dec. 10, 2001, a brawl erupted between Atagooyuk and his common-law partner. The fight left his partner with various cuts and bruises to her head and torso, including a bite mark to her chest.

The assault followed an evening Christmas celebration and was witnessed by the couple’s two young children.

The complainant, who has since requested that the charges be dropped, felt “embarrassed and ashamed” that her children were exposed to the fight, court heard.
