What jobs do the regular MLAs have?
IQALUIT — Membership on a standing committees can give regular MLAs a powerful tool for influencing government policy within the consensus system.
Nunavut’s 10 regular MLAs have organized themselves into four standing committees:
Culture, Education and Health
Responsible for Health and Social Services; Education: Culture, Language, Elders and Youth
Members:

Government Operations and Services
Responsible for: Executive and Intergovernmental Affairs, Finance and Administration, Human Resources

Community Empowerment and Sustainable Development
Responsible for: Sustainable Development; Justice; Community Government, Housing and Transportation; Public Works, Telecommunications and Technical Services.
Members: Amittuq MLA Enoki Irqittuq, Tunnuniq MLA Jobie Nutarak, Hudson Bay MLA Peter Kattuk, Nattilik MLA Uriash Puqiqnak, Arviat MLA Kevin O’Brien.
Ajauqtiit
Responsible for: Office of the Legislative Assembly; Issues related to the Nunavut land claims agreement, Boards and Agencies.
