Work underway to connect Umiujaq to fibre network

A orange buoy line marks where crews are laying a fibre optic cable from Hudson Bay to the Nunavik village of Umiujaq on Sept. 9. The work is part of a larger Kativik Regional Government project to connect four Hudson coast communities to a fibre network in Chisasibi. Fibre-optic connections to Puvirnituq, Inukjuak, Umiujaq and Kuujjuaraapik are expected to be in operation in early 2022. (Photo courtesy of the KRG)
