YK super soccer tourney a big success
On behalf of our son Simonie, his teammates, classmates and Arqsarniit Middle School, we would like to express our appreciation to the people and organizations who made it possible for Aqsarniit Middle School students to participate in the super soccer tournament last month in Yellowknife.
Having been born in Pangnirtung and Frobisher Bay, when we were their age, we remember that going to a “big city” to participate in sporting activities were both very exciting and scary, but it was a chance to represent your region, community, and sport.
At the end, we made friends from all over, but most of all, it turned out that we developed new physical, emotional, and social skills.
We would like to thank Iqalummiut for supporting the teams by buying raffle tickets, participating at the rummage sales, cake walk and your generous support while the kids were bagging your groceries at Northmart.
A big thank you to the other parents, Aqsarniit Middle School, and the corporate and organizational sponsors that cared enough to make the difference and of course the organizers of the Super Soccer Tournament in Yellowknife. A special thanks to Barb Lee and her family for taking care of our son in Yellowknife.
Biggest thanks to Joselyn, Elaine, Beverly and the chaperones. Too often volunteers are not given the thanks they deserve.
