You should be alarmed

Sparky, the City of Iqaluit fire department’s Dalmatian mascot, leads the crew in raising awareness of Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 6 to 12, at the fire hall Monday. Sparky was joined by Chief Steve McGean, left; Lt. Nathan Link; Ainsley Walker, firefighter medic; and deputy Chief Jason Fournier. Their message: Install smoke detectors in every bedroom, outside each sleeping area and on every level of a home; test smoke detectors monthly; replace batteries at least once a year or when a low-battery alert sounds; and replace smoke detectors after 10 years.
