Canadian North and its pilots have signed a new collective agreement that runs until Dec. 31, 2028.

The deal, which takes effect immediately, ends months of negotiations for the airline’s 240 unionized pilots, who are represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, International.

Their previous contract expired Dec. 31, 2025.

“This contract sets an important milestone for our pilots and for the long‑term stability of our airline,” union representative Steven Bard, the Canadian North master executive council chairperson, said in a news release Thursday.

Details of the new contract were not released. Canadian North didn’t appear to issue a news release or post news of the deal on any of its social media pages.

Bard previously told Nunatisaq News in September, at the start of negotiations, that the pilots were seeking pay raises to bring them in line with their southern counterparts.

For example, Air Canada pilots received a retroactive pay increase of 42 per cent over four years in September 2024.

“This achievement reflects the professionalism, unity, and resilience that define our membership, especially in the unique and demanding operating environment we serve across the North,” Bard said.
